New Federal banking regulations may affect your ATM transactions and debit card purchases.
A new federal regulation takes effect August 15 that will prohibit us from providing Member Privilege overdraft protection services on everyday debit and ATM transactions—unless you tell us to do so.
The new regulation requires that you Opt In to continue receiving your overdraft service, which allows debit card purchases and ATM transactions to be approved.
Everyday debit or ATM transactions are generally defined as those using your debit or ATM card or card number for purchases at grocers, restaurants, dry cleaners, gas stations, doctors and other merchants in person, by phone or online.
While you may never need it, Opting Inallows us to pay a transaction in the event of an unexpected emergency or expense, or even a simple reconcilement error. There is never a fee unless you actually use the service.
The easiest way to Opt In is by logging in to DirectConnect Home Banking and follow the MP Opt In link. Or by simply completing our convenient Member Privilege Opt In form.
